和歌山県の山中の20人ほどの集落「九重（くじゅう）」。
6年前に東京より移住してきた若者たちが
旧九重小学校で「bookcafe kuju」と「パンむぎとし」を営んでいる。
彼らが中心となり主催するイベント「KUJU MARKET」は5年目を迎え
「雨でも楽しい」をコンセプトに梅雨時2daysの開催を試みた。
紀伊半島大水害（2011）など水害の多い地域でもあり、
そのコンセプトを実現するために「九重の竹テント」を、設計・施工した。
テントの主構造には竹を用いている。
熊野の主幹産業のひとつに林業があるが、ヒノキ・スギ林にとって竹害は大きな問題である。
竹の利用方法の可能性のひとつとして、
竹の伐採から試作を重ねた検討を経て
9つのテントが連なるイベント会場をつくりあげることとした。
テントは、不定形な四角形平面と片流れ屋根で構成される。
平面の裏表、屋根の勾配の向きをそれぞれ設定することで4つのバリエーションがつくれ、
これら4バージョンを組み合わせることで、多様な平面をつくることが可能である。
今回は一列に並べ、ゆらゆらと蛇行する平面、屋根勾配が交互になったテント群とした。
テントの勾配屋根は高い方を2750mm、低い方を1430mmとすることで
斜めのラインが強調された、高い方の面に開放された空間となっている。
テント群の中を歩くことで、屋根越しに切り取られた
九重小学校や北山川の巨大な絶壁を、交互に味わうことができる。
テントの屋根には雨粒を模した装飾をほどこし
竹に「貸しレインコート」を吊るし
オリジナルタオルをデザイン・販売するなど
積極的に雨を楽しんでもらえるよう企画している。
2日間のイベント期間。風が強く、好天で暑い1日目
曇天から小雨、そして土砂降りの2日目という、
幅広いシチュエーションをテントは経験することができた。
雄大で懐の深い熊野の自然からつくりだした、ささやかな建築である。
Kuju is a small village with a population of about 20 people.
However, there are youth-owned bookstores and bakeries in the area,
which are visited by many on weekends.
These stores are reusing closed elementary schools.
In Kuju, we held an event called "KUJU MARKET"
Under the concept of "enjoying the rain," we tried to hold it in the rainy season.
Kuju is a place with many disasters caused by floods.
This old school building was also damaged by the flood.
We designed and built "Bamboo tent in Kuju" for the event.
Bamboo is used for the main structure of the tent.
Forestry is popular around Kuju, but bamboo breeding is a serious issue for forestry.
We designed this architecture as one of the possibilities of using bamboo.
The tent consists of an irregular square plane and a one-flow roof.
By reversing the same shape, four variations can be made.
By combining them, various group shapes can be created.
We put them in a line.
They meander and roofs alternate.
The height of the roof is 2750 mm high.
The lower part of the roof is 1430 mm high.
It has an extreme slope.
From the opening you can see the old school buildings and the mountains of Kuju.
We decorated the raindrops on the roof of the tent.
We hung a raincoat that we could share on bamboo and sold our original designed towels.
We planned that participants could enjoy the rain actively.
The magnificent Kuju nature and our modest architecture are facing each other.
